The Letter "M"

My Imagination Monday & The Letter of The Day - M

September 24, 2012

Hello Crafty Blends.
I am exited to share another
altered journal with you today.
For our DT projects today at
 My Cricut Craft Room,
 we were to create
a project
using The Letter M.

I instanly thought of McKenzie, my oldest daughter.
I had her help pick out the fun cuts that I would
use for the altered composition book.
She closed her eyes and spun her finger around
in circles around the images on the back
of the Cricut Slumber Party cartridge.
How funny is it, that the images she landed her finger on were
a Microphone and a Moon!
You can't get much more PERFECT than that!

She also asked me to use
the Cricut Jasmine cartridge for the font (her name).

Here is the finished altered notebook:

She really isn't all into the color Pink, but
accepted the fact that all of the Design Team projects at
My Cricut Craft Room through October  15th
will be

I tried to use a minimal amount of pink, which was difficult for me,
but I toned it down with the Teal Paper by K&Company-Embossed Winter.
I used it to cover the front and back covers of the book.
Teal is her Favorite Color!!!

The Microphone and Moon
were both cut at 4" each using
various colors of cardstock.

McKenzie was cut at 2" for each letter, with the letter M
being the only letter I cut from the Charm Feature
on the cartridge.

I used Versa Mark inks in Black and Champagne Dazzle
then heat embossed the Sheet Music stamped background (by Unity)
with a black glittery powder
and heat embossed the stamped foliage (also by Unity)
 in the lower right corner using
a clear glitter powder from Ranger.

Please head back to My Cricut Craft Room,
to view all of the wonderful projects that the Design Team is
sharing today!

Have An Owlsome Fall Y'All Blog Hop~Day 1

Welcome to Day 1
of the
Have An Owlsome Fall Y'All
Blog Hop!
If you arrived here from my Sweet Friend Forever, Heather's Blog,
then you are on Track!
 We are so happy to have you join us today!

The hop starts at Heather Lynn's blog so please start there
if you just stumbled in today
and would like to see some amazing OWL themed projects.

You won't want to miss out on any of these wonderful creations
for this HOP!!!

This is a 2 day hop and the line up will be different each day.
Please start HERE today (9/22) and tomorrow (9/23),
so we can send you in the right direction!

Heather's first "Well Owl Be" Blog Hop"
in June, went over so well,
it has been decided to do
an OWL themed hop
 4 times a year!

Our next hop will be right before Christmas
and we hope you will come back
and join us then, too!

One grand prize winner ,
will win a Cricut cartridge
and a stamp set
sponsored by Erica's Craft Room!
Thank you, Erica, you are so generous!

Please be a follower
and leave a comment
at all of the stops in the hop for the chance to win.

There will also be other blog candy along the way!

OK, so now that all the details are out of the way,
let's get down to Crafty Business!

For the last hop,
I made an Owl Mixed Media Canvas
as a gift to Heather.

For this hop, I wanted to carry on the "new tradition"
and make another gift for her.

I decided to alter a composition book
with some papers Heather had seen in my stash
during one of her visits to my house.

I used my new Create A Critter 2 cartridge to cut
the Owls out at 4 1/2" each.
I forget the manufacturer of the papers, though.
I used some stamps
from the
K Andrew Designs - Owly Hoo Sentiments set
and Vintage Photo ink.
I used an old hand punch that had
a "leaf" adapter that
fit perfect with the patterned papers.
 I added the twine to finish it off.
The paper has just the right amount
of gloss and glitter
to give the entire
"thought journal"
some extra pizazz.
I triple matted a Journal Tag
and the row of owls
which were
fussy cut from some of the pattern paper.

 I didn't want to leave the back inside cover completely bare.
I adhered a few images from the patterned papers
to thick cardstock then fussy cut around them.
I wanted to put them there so when she
gets to the end of her journal, she
still has a cute owl to peek at.

I hope she likes it,
but HOO am I kidding,
she loves
anything with Owls (LOL)!

I am offering candy here at my blog
to one person who becomes a follower
here as well as at all of the blogs
in the hop.  You must also
leave a comment at each stop, too.

~~~I WILL BE CHECKING~~~
So leave one comment here NOW,
then stop back and leave another comment
to tell me you finished
BOTH DAYS of the hop
and have followed ALL of the blogs
and commented along the way!
I would love to hear which  project
was your favorite along the way, too!!!
Now, because that is a lot of work, I know....
it is for a chance to win this . . . .
Share your Smile - with 3 Girl JAM
Happy Tuesday Blends
I get so excited when it is
my day to share
a fun project
using 3 Girl JAM products.
Today I got to make a fun
girly card.
Lots of pinks, chevrons, and fun dress forms.
I used:
Baby Girl Pink  Sterling Silver, and Tuxedo Black
My ribbon flower was created to
fit with the current theme
at the 3 Girl JAM Challenge Blog.
 There is still time to link up
your RIBBON FLOWERS,
so be sure to stop over and get all the details
to play along.
You can even link up
on the right sidebar
here on my blog!
I first cut out a 2" circle.  I started to braid my
three colors of Crinkle Ribbon:
Baby Girl Pink
Tuxedo Black
and
Sterling
together and adhered them
to my circle with ATG Adhesive.
I then put Zots on the back of my 2" circle
and began pleating the Baby Girl Pink
to create a soft petal edge to the flower.
I added a single large
Gun Metal Pearl
from Want 2 Scrap
to finish the center.
The pattern papers are
from the 6x6
Carta Bella - Paris Girl stack
purchased
I used my corner puncher that Heather Lynn gave
me a few weeks ago, because I am always drooling
over her wonderful cards
that she uses one to create.
Thanks Heather!!!
I inked up all of my edges with
Dew Drops Platinum
and
Studio G Pink.
I also distressed my center oval using my
Tim Holtz Distressing Tool.
To cut the oval, I used my Creative Memories
Oval Cutting System - (the 3rd largest oval/red blade)
I added small Baby Bling Le Creme Pearls (also from
Want2Scrap) around the edge
of the oval (1" apart), then
added Liquid Pearls - Petal Pink
in between each Le Creme Pearl.
The stamped image and sentiment are
from the Unity Itty Bitty
Share Your Smile
by Authentique.
I used VersaMark Black ink and
a black Shiny embossing powder on both.
After embossing the dress form, I added
more  Liquid Pearls - Petal Pink
for extra oomph.
I am linking up this project to the current
Chick Challenge - Sketch #44
 I hope you enjoy my card
and be sure to stop
over to the
3 Girl JAM Blog
to see all of the wonderful
work the DT has been creating lately.
Then be sure to stop over
to the
up on your ribbons for the Holidays!
FBD - Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop
Welcome to
September's Fresh Brewed Designs
Blog Hop!
This is our Biggest Blog Hop of the year!
We have invited several guests to join in on the fun.
If you are just arriving here, then you need to start at the beginning
at Freshly Brewed Challenges
If you are getting here from Sheryl's blog then
you are right on track!
Our Hop this month includes
ANY AND ALL
previously released FBD rubber stamps!
You will see a variety of stamps from 2010 - 2012 from many talented crafters.
The project I created for you,
features the FBD Rubber Stamp
Cutie Pie Mermaid
Cutie Pie is the Perfect Name,
don't you think?
When I think of Mermaids, I think of Magic.
When I think of Magic, I think of sparkles.
So with that thought,
I stamped her onto Watercolor Paper, grabbed Whisper Strokes Watercolor Markers
and coordinating colors of Stickles.
After I colored Cutie Pie, I painted a light
layer of many colors of Stickles
(Lavender, Glam pink, and Waterfall).
I also used Studio G Glitter Glue
(Light Green and Clear)
onto the image with several
small paint brushes.
I originally was going to make
a card with a happy sentiment.
Then it occurred to me,
I have been wanting to make some tags.
Instantly, a light bulb appeared
above my head with a sentiment to use
so the tag could also be a fun bookmark.
"dive into a book"
I am fortunate that all of my kids,
who are old enough to read thus far,
love books.
And, after picking Gabriella up
from school on Friday,
she pulled out her book and the bookmark
she has been using, well, let's just say,
had probably marked its last page...LOL.
So this will be a gift to her.
I let her dry for a little while before
fussy cutting around her sparkly little self.
Then I started on the tag.
I simply took my finger dauber, dabbed it in
some aqua Studio G ink,
then made light circular motions
all around the tag.
I painted small
portions of the tag with
Waterfall Stickles and
hand drew some bubbles
using a white gel pen.
I poked about my alpha
sticker stash until
I found some
circle ones that
matched the color scheme
I had created.
I grabbed my Twinery Twine
and picked out
Charcoal, Buttercream, Blossom,
Orchid, and Caribbean.
I cut a 12" piece of each color and folded it in half.
My first attempt was to leave a loop
in the front and feed the ends through.
But after making the first knot,
I opted to go the opposite way,
so the knot would rest in the front.
She is so super
sparkly, that even after
snapping 50 pictures at different angles
and in different light,
I couldn't get the perfect pic.
But here is the finished
tag bookmark.
Stop by the
Fresh Brewed Designs Shop
to check out the
GREAT DEALS
being offered for this hop
and be sure to comment on ALL of the
stops for your chance to win
the blog hop prize package!
Scrapbook Friday - Wild About U
Scrapbook Friday - September 14, 2012
~4 or more Pictures on a Layout~
Hello Crafty Blends.
I am exited to share my
fun Layout with you today.
For our DT projects today at
 My Cricut Craft Room,
 we were to create
a Scrapbook Layout that
had 4 or more pictures on it.
I love snapping random pics
as often as possible around the house.
But, really enjoy when the younger kids
cuddle by me and are happy to be close to each other.
With them being 2, 4, and 5 years old, it is important
to grab the camera when this happens since
it is a rare occasion.
LOL!
I used the new Create A Critter 2
Cartridge for all the fun cuts
you see on the layout.
The first set of pictures that I printed didn't suit
my fancy with the idea I had for colors on my layout.
And if you know me, you know I LOVE COLOR!
So I softened the colors up
by changing the hue and saturation amounts.
I then fussy cut around 4 out of the 5 pics.
I used a single piece of white card stock
and a single piece of black card stock
for all of my Cricut cuts.  I then
used lots of stamp pads
and mediums to adjust them
to my liking.
The Title was cut at 4" on both layers.  I then stamped
the white layer with TH Antique Linen first.  I layered a portion with
Studio G pink and another with Studio G Teal .
When adhering all of my cuts together (the black and white layers),
I decided to offset the black to create a
fun shadow.  This is just one of the many
techniques I have learned from
watching Erica's Room on Ustream this year.
She is full of crafty fun tips
to make crafting more fun and efficient.
My next cut was for the cute Gate.  I cut
this at 4" then went over
the top white layer with TH Vintage Photo.
When the ink dried, I applied a thin coat of Distress Crackle Paint
in Clear Rock Candy and allowed it to dry.
 (sorry about the close up pic being blurry.  I think the kids
played with the settings on my camera...LOL)
Other cuts I made from the Create A Critter 2 Cartridge
were
The Hearts (cut at 2") seen near some pics
and
The Bursts (cut at 2") seen along the length of the vine.
 I used pink and green ink to bring together the entire color
palette from the photos and background designs.
To create the background, I started with a piece of
Desert Card Stock and placed an inqueboard
flower and a vine on top of it.  I started by misting with
Green Olive Smooch Spritz over the vine.
I then misted over the flower with several colors, but mostly
with the Pralines and Cream Smooch Spritz.
This created a masked design and
inked my inqueboard at the same time.
Multi-Tasking!
I simply took my Whisper Stroke Markers
and made some doodles for
highlight.
I decided to try a technique with bubble wrap
that I had seen in several places around the web.
I applied the TH Black  Soot to the wrap,
then "slapped" it down to create the
fun dots behind the large photo.
I matted the larger photo
on a piece of Little Miss by Bo Bunny.
I added a few rhinestones, also from the Bo Bunny Little Miss collection,
to the bursts along the vine.
For the finale',  some miniature roses to create a garden and
complete the entire layout.
 Now, be sure to head over to
see what the talented Design Team Members have created
for their projects today
at
My Cricut Craft Room!
